eSIMs are a cost effective alternative to phone and data roaming costs. In this doc we'll outline the best practices for the countries we visit the most. If you have any great experiences you wish to share then please let the IT team know and we'll include in this document.
1. USA
Provider = T-Mobile

This section is for all iPhones that are eSIM compatible, to check go to Settings/Mobile Data/ if you see the Add eSIM button follow the steps below.
1. Download the 'T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM' app from Self Service (if your iPhone is on Kandji, if not it should be!), otherwise from the App Store as usual.
2. Once installed open the app and it will check that your phone is compatible.
3. Assuming the iPhone is compatible you will see the page below, enter your first name.lastname@ellenmacarthurfoundation.org email address and click the 'Next' button.
4. Enter the address of the primary location you will be staying and click the 'Next' button. Our New York office details are below if that's were you're going.
5. Click 'Confirm' if the address shown matches.
6. Click 'Accept' to agree to the Service Terms.
7. Click on the $50 Simply Prepaid Unlimited plan and click the 'Next' button.
8. Enter your card details to pay for the 30 day plan and click the 'Next' button when complete.
9. On the following page enter and re-enter a security PIN (a 6 to 15 digit number). We suggest taking a screenshot of this page in case you forget the security PIN. Then click the 'Submit' button.
10. The service will then activate.
11. Once activated you'll be taken to the Activate eSIM page, click the 'Activate' button
12. You're all set, you will be allocated a local US number for your stay and enjoy unlimited data throughout. This will begin as soon as you arrive in the USA and turn your mobile on. Please ensure that roaming is turned off for your UK number.

13.
Your UK number will now be known as your Primary Plan and the T-Mobile plan becomes secondary, if you do not intent to use the UK number you can simply turn off the UK Primary. See this page for more details.
2. Rest of the World
This involves a very similar process to above but uses a different app call Airalo, you can find out more here. You'll need a credit card to prepay or you can use Apple Pay and reclaim the costs.
